What the heck is a Poker Run? |
![]() I don't want to RUN ANY MORE! |
Don't worry, nobody has to actually RUN! It's sort of like a road-rally. It got started by biker groups that look for an interesting way to drive around for a few hours to interesting or scenic parts of the region, and to raise some money for a charity. Participants don't have to be on motorcycles - but we expect that there will be a lot of bikes there! You can bring your sports-car, or your mini-van. Participants meet at a designated location, sign in, and pick up their instructions. They will then drive to their next location, and a volunteer will have them draw a card. The cards go into their poker hand. They continue to different locations and pick up cards, and at the last location (where there is a party ) we find out who has the best poker hand. You don't have to know how to play poker! There are prizes for the best hand, and for the worst hand. If you couldn't draw a pair of 2's that might work out OK in the end.) |

There is a Walking version of the Poker Run. If you don't want to drive around and see the sights, but want to be in on the game and the party, you can still play! You show up, and buy a Hand and follow the instructions to where you walk to to pick up the random cards that will make your Poker Hand. |

Each bike must buy a "Driver's Hand" and if they have a passenger they may also buy a "Rider's Hand." You can buy "extra hands" to increase your chance of winning the big prize - and to increase your donation to GPA/GO :) (If you're in a min-van with your Greyhound, the rules are the same!) If you register Early - like maybe NOW - you will get a Free T-Shirt to wear on the Poker Run, and you will look way more cool than the people who don't have one. Back to Information Page |
