RJ'S MILENNIUM "DAN"
9/18/98 - 10/23/09
My Greyhound , Dan , was
the most delightful dog I’ve ever known. Dan spent the first five years of
his life on the race track. Dan gave it his all on the race track and had
many wins to prove it. When it came time for Dan to retire, his new home was
with the organization GPA/Orlando (Greyhound Pets of America) who gave Dan
and many other Greys a second
chance.
I’m so grateful that Dan’s second chance was in my home. When I decided to
adopt a Greyhound I first visited
the GPA and had in mind a type of greyhound I wanted to adopt. I had in mind
a small brindle colored female about two years old. I looked at so many
Greys that day and in the end the dog chose me. Walking proudly out from the
kennel, came a big fawn colored five year old Greyhound who
just leaned his body against me and would not move. It was love at first
sight and it was an easy decision from that point that Dan would be coming
home with me.
From the moment I first met Dan it was clear he had a good spirit. He was
gentle, kind, confident, loyal, and loving and if that wasn’t all enough, he
was handsome too. Dan had a magnetic personality. Person after person would
stop me time after time asking to pet him ,
and say afterwards how amazing he was ,
and most people would remarkably say the same thing to me after petting
him, as they walked away they would say,
I had to just pet him. There was definitely something magnetic about him.
Dan offered unconditional love to me and all persons he came in contact
with, with his playful demeanor,
charming smile or a nudge from his paw or nose. My boy was a unique, one of
a kind dog who had so much to offer and gave without ever expecting anything
back.
Dan, I will miss you always and forever keep you in my heart. People may
believe I rescued you but the truth is you rescued me.
I love you!
