After some heavy duty convincing, I
convinced my husband to adopt our first Grey in 1999. We had a
new home, and he wasn't thrilled about adding a little dog hair,
but I couldn't resist the idea of taking in one of these awesome
animals. Derek was the kindest boy in the group we met, so we
brought him home and loved him for 9 wonderful years. He was a
loyal boy, and the most gentle thing imagineable, and yes- we
all fell more and more in love with him over the years, dog hair
and all! His romps through the back yard to dig a hole in the
sand for resting were a show of his true and sincere
personality. He handled life gracefully, and always a little
timid- until he sought you out and stood by for you to pet him
endlessly.
Recently he went through unexplained
weight loss and some obvious discomfort, and was diagnosed with
liver cancer and other problems stemming from that. He crossed
the rainbow bridge yesterday, December 5, 2008. He
will be missed, and always loved by our family.
Our sweet Derek, Shannon Derek,
lived here on earth from 2/9/97 to 12/5/08.
