Welcome to GPA/GO!
Greyhound Pets of America/Greater Orlando is a non-profit corporation founded in 1996, as a chapter of the National Greyhound Pets of America organization. Our purpose is to find homes for ex-racing Greyhounds and to educate the public on the suitability and availability of Greyhounds as pets. The GPA office and adoption kennel are located in Longwood, Florida. Our Kennel houses about 35 Greyhounds awaiting their forever, loving homes. We are a 100% volunteer organization and we depend on donations to accomplish our wonderful mission; all funds go directly toward the care of the Greyhounds. Our goal is to find a home for every retired racing Greyhound that needs one, and we never turn away a Greyhound due to injury, illness, or old age.

AS WE MOVE FORWARD
With only a few Greyhounds in our Adoption Kennel and no more expected, GPA/GO will begin to gradually transition into a new role in the Greyhound community. Over the next few months, we will begin the process of shutting down our physical location. Though our doors may close, our hearts remain open and dedicated to this magnificent breed.
As former President Jimmy Carter said, “We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.” Our new mission will be to do just that. While we may no longer be an adoption organization, we will always remain an advocate for the Greyhound. We will be available via phone line to support and assist any Greyhound in need -- whether it be a lost or found Grey, a Greyhound who can no longer be properly cared for by its owner, or for any questions you may have about a particular Greyhound situation. Our focus will always be on the health and safety of the Greyhound.
We would like to sincerely thank all of our loyal supporters, who for over the last 20-plus years, have made it possible for GPA/GO to successfully find homes for all the Greyhounds entrusted to our care. Many hounds – more than we could possibly count – have lived out their retirement in caring homes surrounded by loving humans.
When we lock the kennel and office doors at 1260 S. Ronald Reagan Blvd in Longwood for the last time, our hearts will be heavy, our eyes will fill with tears, but our wonderful memories of all the Greyhounds we placed in homes will be our comfort. We will stand for a moment in silence as we realize the task set out for us so many years ago has been completed. We will take pride in knowing that we made a difference in the lives of so many gentle and precious Greyhounds.
